For the past several years, OneBeacon Government Risks (OBGR) has partnered with Clarity Child Guidance Center in San Antonio, Texas. On Wednesday, February 22, Lisa Marsalis and Brian Latimer had the distinct honor of visiting the Clarity Child Guidance Center. The two met with Rebecca Helterbrand, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Resource Development and Jessica Kelley, Development Assistant. During their visit, Rebecca described the culture, history and mission of Clarity.
Lisa and Brian, on behalf of OBGR, were pleased to be able to present a contribution from the OneBeacon Charitable Trust.
In return, Lisa and Brian were humbled to each receive a pinwheel featuring the art of their residents. At Clarity, the pinwheel signifies that this is the place where kids can “turn their luck around.” Clarity adopted the pinwheel to represent childhood, the innocence of the patients they treat, and of the recovered freedom they wish for their children. As we walked through the campus, we noted an uplifting pinwheel theme.
OBGR has partnered with Clarity for several years to help bring assistance to children ages 3-17 who are experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties. Through the use of three campuses, Clarity is able to provide dedicated care to children consisting of outpatient care, acute/emergency care and 24-hour on-campus treatment. In addition, Clarity has partnered with the Northside Independent School District so that their patients can keep up with their school work and help maintain a feeling of “normalcy”. Clarity also partners with The University of Texas Health Science Center for educational and research purposes.
All of this great work is done as a non-profit organization and no child or family is turned away for financial reasons.
